Dr. Shafi distinguished himself early on as a visionary among his peers, originally aspiring to join the Foreign Service after studying International Relations. Despite this, he chose to honor a deep-rooted call to service, joining the Bangladesh Army in 1987, a decision fueled by his family’s encouragement. His prowess in articulation was evident as he excelled in national debates and was repeatedly recognized as the best debater at the Bangladesh Military Academy.
Dedicated Military Leadership:
During his illustrious 23-year military career, Dr. Shafi demonstrated exceptional leadership in various capacities. His roles included commanding officer and chief of staff positions, where he skillfully managed thousands of personnel and significant military resources.
Corporate and Technological Advancements:
After retiring from military service, Dr. Shafi embarked on a successful corporate journey. He played a pivotal role as a Chief Commercial Officer and as the founding CEO of multiple telecommunications companies, driving growth through strategic innovation and leadership.
Pursuit of Knowledge and Global Influence:
Dr. Shafi’s relentless pursuit of education led him to attain advanced degrees, including a PhD, enriching his expertise with specialized ICT training. His philosophical outlook was profoundly influenced by global leaders like Lee Kuan Yew, whose perspectives on impactful leadership resonated deeply with him, reinforcing his commitment to making a significant difference in the world.
Challenges and Achievements in the USA:
Seeking new challenges, Dr. Shafi moved to the USA, where he initially engaged with multinational corporations, including a stint in the banking sector and with a major IT firm, Infosys. This experience further honed his skills in navigating complex global business environments. Subsequently, he served as the Director of an IT Training Institute, a role in which he significantly influenced the IT landscape by nurturing and employing thousands of professionals in the USA, India, and Bangladesh.
